June night
June 13, 1944
Dear Howard
I received your letter yesterday, was glad to hear from you.
Maybe I will see you Sunday. Jr. said he was thinking of coming down to see you and want me to come along.
Everything is dead as hell around here. Nothing to do. Bob has Bens car most of the time so I have been staying home except when I went with Fluff.
Sat. night we had a couple of dames from Galena over to East Dubuque. I was wheeling the 42 and ruined a recap or I helped do it. Sunday night I went to the Midway with Fluff. I took a dame from Platteville out and got plastered.
I met a sweet kid at the gas rationing board in Darlington, got three letters from the here this morning.
I was out there today at noon. We went outside of town and parked for a while. I almost got over that hat, some girl. Hope to see more of her. I got a touch of poison ivory on my leg as I was over to Hazel Green last night and while I was there I saw the Hawkin boy. He may get out in 3 more weeks. I haven’t had a chance to take Max out as for.
I saw Beryle in Hazel Green Sunday night but wasn’t talking to her. I had a birthday yesterday, getting old now. Rains every day here. I have been running the old Dodgs part of the time, never fair. Hope to get down to the Galena tomorrow night.
Well it’s 9:30 so to bed for me.
Don’t let the Navy get you down.
Your old pal
Ernie
