Dear Ma,

Haven’t much time tonight so I will have to make this short. All non swimmers have to go tonight so it is alright with me for it is really hot here. We had a bad storm here last night and it came out real hot today.

Got your letter in tonights mail and just how long is Ernest going to be home. Seems like he has been home quite awhile now.

I can sure picture Maggie saying that. Never even heard that expression before either. You got to give Maggie credit she says what she thinks. Really am surprised if Howard Richards got married. Always thought him and Sylvia would get married. I can see how Homer feels when he says that he is to old. Some of the things a person has to do is pretty hard on a fellow his age.

I have expected somebody to get hurt with those motorcycles for I knew they were all great Rands to show off. Sure do feel sorry for Jim and Lorenzo both.

Next time Junior comes down give him a nickel so he can buy himself a pencil.

Suppose that Mae and Dilley had a big time in town Wednesday night.

You might as well let Ernest use the car for I know he hates to sit at home. Was nice of him to offer to take him you to Dubuque.

I imagine that Bob looks a lot better with a little weight on him. Can’t picture him sitting down and talking very long.

Well ma I had better close for we will have to go swimming most anytime. Sure wish I knew how.

Love Howard
