Dear Ma,

Think I have some time this morning so I will drop you a few lines. It is seven o’clock and I have just finished breakfast. We got our stuff all rolled up and are just waiting. Might be night before we go. I had a good sleep last night so I feel alright. It sure is going to be hot today. I wish it would come a rain.

The program we went to last night sure was good. It was “Meet your Navy”. You probably have heard that on the radio. I got to sit in the front row so I had a good place to see everything. Durwood Kirby was Master of Ceremonies. I have heard him on the radio lots of time. I am going to try and get my mail this morning so I will have something to read. I should have a couple of letters here.

The building we slept in last night had over 2000 in it so you can see it is a pretty big place. The way things look now we might stay together awhile. We don’t know no more about it than you do though. Well Ma, I don’t know any news so I will close. Won’t be any use to write until you get my right address. Probably be a week before you hear from me. Don’t worry for I will be alright.

Love
Howard
