Hawaii
December 7

Dear Ma,

Just finished writing to Beryle so I will write you a few lines now. Didn’t write yesterday for two other fellows and I have a job in town working in the U.S.O. and by the time we got home from work we were pretty tired. I am waiting on the counter and making eighty cents an hour. Don’t know just how long we will work. I got three letters from Beryle and one real long from you today. Sure was glad to get some!

I guess William feels pretty happy to have all his corn hushed where the rest of the neighbors haven’t. I know that Rowe boy fairly well. He had a letter in the paper about two months ago. He is in the air corp. Guess that Wendell has had some rough going. Must be awful not to get any mail for two months. Sure wish he could get back here. Figure on getting to see the ship that was to be on for it is ….

You don’t mean to say that Billy still has some of that gum left I sent her. We can get all kinds of gum here.

That Temperley you were talking about is from East Dubuque I think.

Things are real pretty here for the wet season has started. Sure is quite a change. Guess that you are pretty busy taking care of two houses.

Well ma I am terrible tired tonight so I will close and go to bed.

Love
Howard
