Dear Ma,
Just finished writing to Beryle and will write you a few lines now.
Can’t say I have did much today but have been busy all day. Wrote two letters this morning and then went after my laundry. After that I went and saw Francis for awhile and had some ice cream. Came back and it was time for supper. Played football for awhile to get some exercise and by that time all the daylight was gone.
I didn’t do very good with the mail this morning, but did swell this afternoon. I got two letters from Beryle, one from you, Roscoe Monroe, and Clyde’s girl friend. Not so bad was it.
Hope you got to town an won the fifty dollars.
If you want anything just tell Harry about it and he will find it. Don’t have any trouble cutting my finger nails for I can do that with a razor blade.
Willie sure must be getting prepared getting the hay hauled already. Guess that is some of that fancy stacked hay.
Fred sure is brave starting out with that old car. Found out something for I didn’t know where Happy was. Imagine he finds it pretty hot there.
Beryle said that Currins have a new car. Must of hurt for Lucille to spend all that money. She will have to do pretty good trapping this winter.
Was there many hickory nuts this year? When you mentioned the leaves falling it made me think of them.
Well ma don’t know much more to write about so will close.
Love
Howard
You never did say whether you got your allotment check.
