Dear Ma,

Just finished writing to Beryle a thought it would be a good time to write you a few lines. Got just as much mail today as I figured I would after getting so many yesterday. Every time I get a lot the day I don’t get any the next.

I wrote you a letter this morning an then did my washing right after dinner. After that I went down an saw Francis for awhile. He has about an hour off the afternoon he is off working so we had a little visit. He hasn’t heard anything about the mines burning down.

I guess by now you know a little more about the settling up of the estate. Probably be quite awhile before I get my papers. Suppose you will be going to town tonight trying to win the money. May name ought to come up pretty soon. Can just picture Willie on his big tree cutting project. But he showed Lamont some thinks he never knew before.

Do the people that live on the Winshell place still talk on the telephone as much as they did?

Can’t think of anymore to say tonight so will close for now.

Love
Howard
