Dear Ma,
Didn’t write last night for it was supper time when I got back from seeing Kenny a just when I finished eating But and Donnie Harry came a wanted to go to the show so I went. By the time it was over I was pretty tired so I went to bed.
Had quite a time locateing Kenny but finally found him. He really Thales he doesn’t for he knows what he is going into. Today is the day he is to leave. also Today is Beryle’s birthday.
Didn’t get any mail yesterday, but got a letter from both you and Beryle today.
Was wondering how the big meeting about the settlement would come out an it looks as if I had it figured out right. Glad you weren’t there Ma for I know how it would bother you. I am in favor of asking three thousand for our share and more if we can get it. Won’t have much left by the time the lawyer gets through. Looks as if you are closer to the battlefront now then I am.
Dilly must be getting quite a cook being able to cook her own meals. But she did give Mr Benedict quite a time. He always seemed so nice an friendly.
I am glad you got to the co-workers for it seems ages since I heard you mention going. I can understand how Willis letter would be so interesting for he is so serious an any letter he ever wrote to him had such a good sense to it.
I got a very nice christmas card from Ethel and Harry Magee. I think they remembered all the New Diggings boys.
About that allotment you should check number one for conditions an the same now as when I come into the Navy. You have more rights to it than a lot of fellows wives. Are about a dozen fellows here where I am that have gotten letters wanting divorce. One baker here who had been married eight years got a letter from his wife the other day wanting a divorce. Any of these fellows would like to have theirs stopped but can’t. No reason why you shouldn’t have it. The Navy gets all they can out of a person an anyone is foolish if they don’t get something in return.
The reason they have Joseph T. Robinson is that there are several Camp Robinsons.
So Willy is going to stay in the army. Don’t blame him for it is a good life that doesn’t have a lot better when a person is stationed in the states. I agree with him when he says you don’t want to get smart for it really is best to be kind of dumb.
Has been eleven years since Pa died hasn’t it. Really does seem much longer than that. Certainly has been a lot of changes made since then. Will close now for tonight.
