Dear Ma,
Don’t know very much to write about today, but will do my best. We lost another one of our local fellows this morning. Francis got shipped out. Don’t know where she went but I sure hated to see him go. It wouldn’t of been so bad if somebody else from our company went, but he went just by himself. I can’t get over my brother being out picking blackberries. Don’t know what will become of it. I want you to be sure an save me some of them.
I am glad that somebody liked my picture. They ought to be good at that price.
Must seem funny to see a good straw pile on the farm after the ones that have been there the last few years. I figured Helen P. would get married when she went down there. Took her quite awhile, but she finally landed a man. Did Mr. Hoard call me Walter when he asked about me. He usually called me that. He sure is a comical guy.
Quite surprised at the new member on the school board, but she can’t be any worse than what they had. Anyway she will speak her piece. Can’t blame Joe Peacock for resigning for it. It must be an awful strain on his nerves. He sure has been at it quite awhile.
It sure does keep Fred and Hazel busy taking care of there children. One thing they are sure good about going around helping them.
Well ma guess I will close for now.
Love
Howard
