Dear Ma,
Did pretty good today by getting ten letters. Four from you and six from Beryle. Two of them were only a week old so I am pretty well caught up on the news. Sure was glad to get them.

Today I had a pretty nice job. Mary and I were working at the hospital hauling rubbish. It wasn’t a bad job and we ate right there. Sure did have some good eats and all the ice cream a person could eat. Wouldn’t mind working there every day.

We lost one of our home boys this morning when Harold Parrey got his orders to move on. Don’t know where he went, but sure felt sorry for him. We really felt pretty bad about having to leave us fellows. There is a good chance of us all getting split up here. Hope we don’t. Send us to Dad about getting killed, but there is no doubt as well off in comparison to some of the fellows that are wounded or let live.

Sure am glad you got the brakes fixed on the car and are able to go again. Know it must of been pretty hard on Dilly to stay home. That kid Junior had fit to Arthur and he is a real nice kid. Sure hope Junior is alright again. Like the name they picked for the baby. Better than the other one.

Sure you will miss Bob an awful lot. Sure was nice that he was so good. Beryle said that Virginia Hatfield has a baby. Could write a lot more tonight but I am tired and will close for now.

Love Howard

Wendell comes over to visit us every night. Makes it kind of hard writing letters with so much visiting going on.
