Dear Ma,
Don’t know much to write about tonight, but will write you a few lines. This letter will probably be censored so I can’t say very much. I think I told you where I would be tonight. All of us are still together and Nelson and I bunk by each other. We are sure fortunate at staying together.
I had a box of candy from Mrs. O’Brien I mean this morning before I left. It sure is good. Took six days for it to come. You can keep writing to my old address if you want or wait until you get my new one. That might be quite awhile so don’t worry. Don’t know where I am going but to a pretty good place I think.
My nose is sure burnt from this California sun. Most everybody’s nose is peeling off.
Has Harry started to thresh yet or is he still haying like they usually are?
How are Jim and Bob coming? Guess May gets an awful going over?
Well ma believe I will close for tonight and write Beryle a few lines and then to bed. I am pretty tired tonight.
Love, Howard
