Dear Ma,

I don’t know any news this morning, but will write a few lines. Had a real good sleep last night so I feel pretty good today.

I think I will tell you a little bit about our trip yesterday. Came on bus and I got to see some nice places in California. A lot better than what I had seen. Have seen a lot of small ships so far and saw the Golden Gate Bridge. It is quite a sight. Also saw Alcatraz. We are in the Port of Embarkation here at Treasure Island.

If you want to keep writing to my old address you can or if you want to wait until you get my new one you can. Please yourself about that.

We are supposed to be a non-combat unit so that sounds pretty good. Don’t know how long it will be before you get my new address. Will write as soon as I can after I get where I am going.

Tell Rena I may have seen a lot of big airplanes. She sure would stretch her neck if she was here. Well ma I believe I will close now for Francis just came in and we will have to have a visit. We do a lot of that.

Love Howard
