Dear Ma,
Thought I would write you a few lines this morning telling you it was a mistake when I said Donnie and Francis were shipping out. Somebody made the story up an there isn’t a thing to it. Sure am glad too. Francis and I are sitting along side of the barracks now. We just came back from the tailor shop where we took our dress uniforms to get some work done on them.

We are having a fine mist here this morning. Wish it would come a good rain. There is a strong wind blowing here every day an it is always raw. Blows from the ocean all the time.

Wendell got a letter from Sam Van Galder an he is down in Mississippi. He said boot camp was a pleasure compared to where he is at now. I guess any school a person goes to is tough. Haven’t had any mail calls yet so I haven’t much to write about. Will close for now an write more tonight.

Love Howard
