Dear Ma,

Don’t know much news but will write you a few lines so you will get some mail. I got a letter from you and Beryle this noon and I kind of expected to get some more tonight, but I didn’t. As long as I get one letter a day I am satisfied. I wrote Mrs. Bennett and Bootys a letter today. Have a lot of time here but it seems the more you have the more you waste.

It has been real cool here all day. There is usually a good breeze here and it is cold out in it. The sun always shines good and bright here, but it is always cold in the shade.

Francis was telling me about Bray getting in a fight. Said he got into another one before he left, but made out alright. Francis says he will soon get over that.

Two kids from Cuba that entered the navy right after me are out here. They got here three days ago. Think I will go over and see them sometime.

One fellow got a letter from one of the fellows from our company and they are at San Deigo. They still don’t know where they are going.

Things sure are looking bad for Hitler. Think that war will be over before long.

Bill Nelson got his first letter today and he sent a telegram home the same day as I did. His mail must of been held up some place for he always got quite a bit before I did.

Well ma I don’t know nothing more so I will close for now.

Love
Howard
