Dear Ma,
Didn’t get a letter from you today so I figured maybe the big day had come and that you were pretty busy. Got two letters from Beryle and she was worrying that big explosion might have been real close to Camp. She is quite a worrier. Got a bunch of new fellows in our barracks last night. They are mostly younger kids. Fellow that bunks with me is eighteen. He got married on his boot leave. Said his father and mother got married when they were seventeen and fifteen so it runs in the family to get married young. He seems like a real nice kid. How are the potatoes this year? Never thought of them before. Had some good tomatoes for dinner today. Also had some good muskmelon for breakfast. Thats one thing I can’t complain about here. Suppose you went to town last night and won the money as usual.
Well ma I can’t get any writing done tonight for everybody wanting a visit so I guess I will close.
Love
Howard
