Dear Ma,
Did good today in the mail call. Got four letters, one from Agnes and Beryle; Mrs. Booty and Virginia. Virginia said she had a letter from Pat and he was coming home on furlough. Sure hope he gets home when I do. He was suppose to be in Hawaii when the letter was written.
Read in the Chicago paper tonight where you had a terrible bad storm up that way. Sure was terrible those people getting killed. There is one fellow here whose cousin & wife was killed. He is the one that showed it to me.
They sure have given us some hard training today. A few days of this and we would be regular Commandos. Got all of the worst of it in now. I really am tired tonight.
I thought Sunday when I had time I would drop Francis a few lines. Wrote ten letters that day so you can see I did pretty good. Never get any if you don’t write. I sure wouldn’t want you to put that picture of mine in the window for it would scare a lot of people.
Well Ma I guess I will close and go to bed.
Love,
Howard
