Dear Ma,

Sorry to hear that the strawberries weren’t so good this. Was planning on eating a lot of them when I get home. Sure don’t get anything like that here. Sure would of been a swell day to pick them. That sister of mine is sure getting witty. Like her Uncle Jack.

Another company went out of here today and a new one came in tonight. Sure is funny to see those green rookies come in. Hard to realize that we looked like that a few weeks ago.

Had a letter from Bergle today and she said she thought you were pretty tired when you got home. She said to thank Junior and you.

Our Company all had to go to the boxing matches tonight except the twenty on detail. Sure were lucky for I got all my washing done.

Went to the canteen again tonight and got something to eat. If I stay here much longer I will have all my money spent eating.

I let Jenelda a pillow thing tonight. It is pink and says To My Friend on it. Tomorrow we take our Review for Graduation. I guess we have to march in front of the big shots.

Well ma I just am not in the mood to write tonight so I will close.

Love
Howard

I thought about Debbut the other day but didn’t say anything. He is a good hand at anything like that.
