Dear Howard,
I can imagine how glad you were to get letters from home, I felt so much better after I got your first one, you know you just heard of wonder what is going on. I would like to know what you have to eat for breakfast, they say when women live alone they don’t have anything to eat but that isn’t the case with us, we have cooked meals. I think Dilly needs them and I am a poor hand to go with out something substantial to eat myself. I get empty quick lunching, we have been having lots of asparagus and you know how she goes for that with potatoes. We are taking the saddle up to Benton. will stop at the Advocate office and at Uncle Louis to pay for Howard Birchetts flowers.
I haven’t done that yet and then we are going down to Jack’s and get our hard maple tree, it is a good time for transplanting, but a very poor time for planting as it rains and rains. Cook’s tractor went all night last night, this morning it started to rain at 6 am rained all forenoon, is raining again now at 3. I got that allotment thing today, I don’t know what to put down on it because I don’t know what you have put down, there are 4 Classes B-1 and B and two others and then I haven’t looked it over much yet. maybe it won’t be so complicated when I get into it, it doesn’t have to be returned right away so I will have to figure it out, maybe you can give me a few pointers, there is no place that I can see to put down the amount you told me you just have to mark X in one Class and then tell all your business. well I will get going we are going to town tonight.
Love
Mom
