Dear Ma,
Didn’t get my letter from you today, but got two from Beryle and one from Mrs Boots so I am really satisfied. The letters I got from Beryle were mailed the first and third where I got the letter she mailed the second. Same thing happened with Francis too. Just goes to show you how the mail can be held up. It has been another nice day here today but is starting to get pretty cool again tonight. This weather wouldn’t be so bad if it came a shower of rain sometime. Our stay here is getting pretty short as I still don’t know where

Drafts is what they call a shipment of men we are going, but I have a pretty good idea. They started today posting where the drafts in the states are going, but the ones going overseas aren’t. Ours isn’t and we haven’t received our overseas equipment so that is a good sign we are going to Pearl Harbor for you don’t need that stuff there. They say they put a lot of fellows to work down there. Think maybe we have missed the amphibious but don’t know for sure. I would like to get in some Construction work some place. One thing for sure is that we are leaving the states. I hate what I wanted for I joined the Navy to get a ride on a ship. Don’t worry if you don’t hear for a few days for it will take quite a little while to get moved. Sure is nice that we are all going together. Believe I might get to stay with Peterson a little longer for he goes the same day only in a different draft. Had to get up at four o’clock this morning and go down to the mess hall. There was a big draft of men going out so they called all the fellows that had been working there down to feed them. The only thing was they had them all fed by the time we got there. Got plenty to eat out of it though. Had two whole mushmelons for breakfast. Well ma I guess I will close for tonight and take a shower.

Love Howard

Sent you and Rena may a couple of things today.
