Dear Ma,
Here it is Christmas night but it don’t seem much like it here only a person does have a feeling it is something different. Really are a lot of homesick people tonight. We had a wonderful meal here tonight an it wasn’t near as much work as I expected. We had most everything done ahead of time this time so we weren’t so rushed at the last minute.
Really am tired tonight for none of us got to much sleep last night. There was a bunch of fellows got drunk yesterday an they started to fight last night just when it was time for lights out an they carried on for about two hours until the military Police broke it up. Won’t have trouble with them anymore for they sent the whole works down where they can do some real fighting today. Stayed in my bunk all the time for I figured that was the safest place.
There wasn’t no mail service today due to it being Christmas so I couldn’t expect any mail. We haven’t any snow, but are having plenty of rain tonight.
Well ma will close for tonight a try a get some sleep.
