December 26
Dear Ma,
Well I did pretty good today in the mail line for I got ten letters counting Christmas cards and one paper. Two letters were from you and the rest of them were cards. Didn’t get any from Bude but maybe I will tomorrow. I know I should get some letters from you that were written before the ones I got today.
Washed this morning and my clothes aren’t dry yet. Hope they are by morning or else I won’t have anything to put on.
So you have Bob with you again. But that he is a lot of company. Jenella must be used up pretty bad not to be able to take care of the kids. Guess they are a lot of work.
Jim certainly is a big boy going to Sunday School. Sure would like to see him going. Junior was foolish in a way to sell his car being that it is so hard to get another one now. Especially with winter coming on. Seems funny to think of it being twelve below at home when it is so nice and warm here. That’s the reason the car wouldn’t start for it never would start when it got lower than ten below.
I really think we have lost a lot of men in France too I am afraid of what we might hear. I don’t think that Wendell will get back here for quite awhile for he is on duty that lasts about six months.
I heard that Ernest was going to get a furlough in January so maybe he will be home before too long. I got Christmas cards from Mr & Mrs Rock, Joe Thompson, Leonard Thompson, Donald Monroe, New Diggings, Minister, Dorothy Monroe, Mabel & Bill Allison and Spider McCauley from New Diggings. Pretty good don’t you think.
Well ma think I will close for tonight for I believe I will go to the show for a change.
Love
Howard
