Dear Ma,
Just finished work and it has been a hard one today. Wasn’t quite as bad as I expected for we had a working party that did all the dirty work.
Got two letters from you today and they were the ones that had the pictures of the kids in them. Sure was glad to get them. Jimmy squints in every picture that he has taken. Bob always looks so jaunty. From the pictures I think that Donnie looks a lot like Bob. I thought that Junior was dressed up quite a bit for him.
I am glad that you had them send me the Cuba paper for they all seem to have a little different news in them. I haven’t written to anybody lately except you and Beryle.
Happy is in a pretty hot place, but quite safe too I think. Willie is in France.
So Dilly is greatly taken up with playing basketball. I can remember how wild I was about that. Guess I won’t be able to recognize her when I come home for she will be so big.
Sure was too bad about Minnie Gee dying. Seems like when trouble starts in a family it comes in bunches. Guess that Dutch will really be broken up with both things happening at once. Minnie was so good to them all.
Suppose that Stanley will get drafted next month for he will be eighteen then won’t he? I think he would be better off to join the Navy before he is drafted.
How could Willie sell Flossie that way. Didn’t think it was possible for him to get rid of any of them.
That dog of Roosevelts really stirred up a big stink. We hear all the news every night at ten o’clock just when the lights go out. Besides that we get three editions of the daily paper a day.
When a person gets in his late thirties and early forties he really is considered old in here. No reason why any of the old couldn’t do the work some of the fellows do here.
Maybe Beryle and Jenelda are both doing the same kind of work for Beryle works in a battery factory too.
Well ma I don’t know any more news so I will close.
Love
Howard
