Dear Ma,
Got a letter from you and one from Beryle tonight. Ought to get letters right regular now. Will be glad when I get stationed permanently. Would be glad to stay here for awhile. Wish it would be a little warmer at nights. One fellow got his winter underwear out and put on tonight. Am going to put my wool sweater on myself to sleep.

Bet you had a good visit with Aunt Cassie. You will be able to stop up and see them most anytime. Sure am glad that they like it.

Its too bad about Ray getting in a fight. He has an awful quick temper anyhow. I knew that he drank a little. I knew that him and that Judkins went with her first, but Judkins went with her the last I knew. Don’t care much for Judkins myself. I really believe it was a good thing it happened before he got in service for it is a pretty serious offense fighting in here.

I really think that the navy would be a good place for Stanley. A person at his age would really enjoy it. I am enjoying it myself but I really feel sorry for these married men though. Especially the older ones. One thing a person learns here is discipline.

I don’t think you need to worry much

Wendell drinking for he has promised Elinor he would quit and he is in a good place to do it. He really thinks a lot of her and they are expecting sometime. Not for quite awhile though. He sure wants a child for he has told me about it several times. Buck and I have a lot of good talks.

Miller was the one that was married and had the baby. Sure hated to see him leave. He is suppose to write and tell me where he went.

Seems funny to hear you talk about rain for it never does here. Its a good place for drying clothes.

Well ma I guess I will close for now and take my nightly shower.

Love
Howard
