Dear Ma,
Got your letter this noon telling about things at home an I hope I get one tonight saying the new relation has arrived. I have been quite anxious for quite awhile now. I am sure glad you can drive a get up there. Sure was nice that Jim and Bobs were good. But you have quite a time with them. Sure appreciated Bobs writing.

Just been to night mail an got a letter from Pat Harry. Said he had been having his eyes checked for he has been having a lot of trouble with them. He wears glasses now.

We have had sweetcorn several times. Tonight we had wieners and sauerkraut an it was real good.

I did real good at mail call again today. Got your letter, Beryle’s, Pats and one from Mary Margret Alderson. I was surprised to hear from her, but I know she wrote to a lot of boys in service. Sure feels nice to hear your name called off at mail call.

Beryle said she saw you go down through Leadmiss an wondered if the big event had happened.

Read in tonights paper where they figure that Germany will be licked by December first. The way the Russians have been rolling it might be sooner than that.

Beryle said that Cherry heard from Juniors. John was so excited he tore the letter in two opening it.

Well ma I don’t know anymore news so I will close for tonight.

Love Howard
