Dear Ma,
It has been another hot day here today and we have had a little rain. That cooled the weather off a bit but not too much.
We had some more shots today and these are suppose to be the worse ones we have to take. We took a lot of exercise after we had them and I just had a warm shower so I feel good now. Probably will feel pretty stiff in the morning. We have been getting up at 4:30 for two Companies here to use the same toilet and showers as we do. They have been painting and it makes things pretty unhandy. Will be done in a day or so.
Wendell said that Eleanor had gotten her first check from the government. I heard several of the fellows say that their wives had gotten theirs.
I found out soon about how many could come on that pass today. Five can come. You are suppose to fill that card out and send it in ten days before you come. You cannot come until the seventeenth of June because I am in quarantine until then. You would have to send that card in by the seventh. If you do come bring Beulah if she will come. Our C. O. told us today that they might give us a longer pass so we could be home for the Fourth. That was his idea too. He sure is one swell fellow.
I got Rena Mays letter tonight and heard that you had the two pills done Decoration Day.
What does Jim have to say about me being gone? I guess he can’t understand that.
It is too bad that Doris couldn’t have had a boy. Have they named it yet.
Since I started this letter I have been to Chow and up to the Canteen. That’s the first time I have been to the Canteen. It is a nice place, but like everything else you have to wait in line.
Say ma you could get a box of candy and send it. All of us local fellows share everything together.
I guess the grass and weeds are growing pretty fast now. We don’t get to see much of that stuff here.
You never did tell me too much what kind of a tire certificate I got. Tell me in my next letter for I would like to know! Be sure and use all those A stamps up for they run out the 21st of this month.
I was going to have my picture taken tonight but I hated to stand in line that long.
Well ma I had better close for now and do a little washing. I also had better write to Beulah.
Love
Howard
Sometime I will really write a long letter.
