Dear Ma,
Just came back from Chow an we had pills tonight. That’s one thing they give a person good dissuts
Our company started in the chow house tonight so
we will have plenty to eat for this week. I
am glad I am not on it for it runs into a lot of
work and long hours.
We had some more shots today. By the time
we get out of here we will all be full of holes.
Did it do very good in the mail line today.
Got Rena Mays letter at noon and one from Mary
tonight. Mary was quite long an not as funny
as usual.
Sure was to bad about Henry dying. I thought
that it would finish him off. Sure will be tough
on Neva and Jack.
Say ma I mean’t to tell you before, but those
flowers for Weston’s funeral weren’t paid for. I
asked Nell about them that day an she didn’t
know how much they costed or if they were paid for.
Sure has been a gloomy day here. It has sprinkled
rain off and on all day. Hope it keeps cool.
I sent Dilly a little package today. Just a little
thing to remember the Navy.
Went up to the canteen tonight an got some ice
cream. On a cool night like tonight a person can get in
pretty easy. Thought my pictures would be done, but
they weren’t.
Ma said she was going to come out an stay a
week with you. You will have a pretty lively time
for awhile.
Well ma I believe that I will close for
tonight.
Love,
Howard
