Dear Howie,

Well I have a few minutes before bedtime, so I will drop you a few lines. I got two shots today. It makes it kind of hard writing. I suppose my arm will be so stiff I won’t be able to move it tomorrow.

We had our swimming test this morning. I passed it OK. We have to do a lot of marching. You can tell Pee Wee and Killer I got in the same company with Lorance Hockings. Have you been doing any fox hunting lately?

Has you or Squint got any more word from the draft board? If you haven’t I guess it won’t be long till you do. How are you and Ma. hitting it off. Good I hope. Is Pee Wee still raving about Fisher.

We got to go over to the company canteen today for the first time since I got here. Well it’s just about time for bedcheck so I will close for now write soon.

P.S. Tell the headmine gals if they were with us here for ten minutes, they would see all the sailors. They would want to see us for a while.
