Great Lakes 5-19

Dear Maw,

Well we have been real busy today and we have only a few minutes before lights out. We got moved to our new barracks today and we had our bunk routine changed. All the fellows next to me are strangers. All the kids from home are in the same Company except Kenny McKenna who has to have an operation of some sort. We felt pretty bad about having to leave us. We had different kind of eats today and they sure poured the potatoes to us. They were good but too many of them.

How is the weather back there. It has been quite chilly here all the boys are writing letters home tonight and I am writing this in my bunk so you can see why it is scribbled.

Well maw time is getting short and I want to drop a line to Beryle so I will close for now.

Love
Howard

How is Billy coming? Did you get to town Wed.
night.
