Great Lakes
5-28-1944

Dear Rena May,

Just came back from supper and I have a few minutes before we go to an entertainment for the Company tonight. This is something everybody has to go to. They have plenty of entertainment all the time, but we can’t go very often. I went to the boxing matches the other night and they were real good.

We had a poor breakfast and
supper today, but we had a real good dinner. Ham, peas, potatoes, bread,
ice cream, coffee and lettuce. That’s not bad is it.

I am sending you a little remembrance of Great Lakes in this letter. It isn’t much but just something to remember you.

I suppose Jim and Bob were down today. They will be big boys when I come home.

Do you and dogie go for a walk every night yet? Do you get the mail or Willie? Is Buddy down much? You get ready to go fishing when I come home. Should be home by the twenty fourth of June.

How is the weather up there now? It is real hot here.

I am sending home a Railway Express Agency slip for my clothes. It doesn’t amount to anything now that you got the clothes, but we are suppose to send it home.

Well sister I believe I will close for now. Do you and ma go to Sunday school & church.

Keep writing,

Your brother,
Howard
