Dear Ma,

Didn’t get to write last night or this morning so you will miss a day getting a letter. A couple of the fellows didn’t do as they were suppose to yesterday so we all had to work late last night on account of that. Then this morning I wrote a test on it took about four hours. Was long but not so hard. Write one more now and if it pass it I will get a rating.

Didn’t get any mail yesterday but got a letter from you, Beryle and Mary Margret today. I guess you would have a nice visit out at Thomas and Eileens that Sunday. Guess the kids would have a wild time too. Lola Gene must be quite a worker when she can bake cakes. Don’t seem possible that she is that old does it.

It’s nothing new for Thomas Alderson to being going some place to live. If they don’t like California any better than I do they won’t stay very long. Their daughter has went with one of the other boys for a long time. Even when Tommy was going with her.

Francis told me that Buck was suppose to come home on leave. Sure glad I didn’t stay in boot camp that long. There is no comparison between the Navy now and Boot Camp.

You needn’t worry about me dividing my box up. We will all have to or else the ants will get it. Some fellows have had packages already. I have four on the way now that I know of.

You probably won’t get anything from me until after Christmas for I am going to wait awhile before I get anything. All the letters I get are quite interesting. Mary and Virginia both write a lot about the same thing but both write a very nice letter. It sure is nice to get a lot of mail. Can’t figure out why I haven’t got any of my papers as yet. Think they would have time to get here by now.

I will agree with you too when you say Harry and them have did a lot to keep the place up. There are a lot of things that should of been done that they didn’t too.

Hope that Donnie gets over his cold quick. Sure would like to see him and Jim and Bob. Bet Jim and Bob have grew a lot. It tooks Floyd and Jennie a long time to get a boy but they finally made it. Glad that they succeeded. Well ma don’t much more to write about tonight so will close.

Love
Howard

Has Dilly got her report card yet?
