Dear Ma,
Just finished work a took a shower so I feel pretty good now. Sure is nice to have hot water any time a person wants it.
Got three letters today two from Beryle and one from you. Sorry it had to be such a nasty night for the picnic but was glad they had a good crowd. Seems like they always have one service man home for it. Beryle said she saw you both had to stand up to see the program. Glad you got to see Arthur even though it was only for a short time. You must of had a pretty good crowd to make as much money as you did last year but then again you never will know how much it really is.
Think maybe Walter Calvert will be a good teacher, but he really is going to have a time. I guess he has had plenty of teaching experience.
I really felt bad when I didn’t get to see Pat, but if he ever comes back here I am located so that I could get to see him in ten minutes. Pat always was a great poetry writer.
That Otto Peabody you spoke of didn’t come over on the same ship as I did for the one I came over on had a different name than that. Where he is is where I was suppose to go.
Sure am glad that Chenyse heard from Orthelle. Imagine Junior is in more danger than he is now. Virginia said they were going to move to Benton, but she said home would still be in New Diggings.
Wendell wanted to stay with either Francis and I the worst way, but things just don’t work out that way in the Navy. You can talk all you want about him being a terror, but I wouldn’t want him to be with. An as for Eleanor he sure thinks a lot of her. Waasn’t surprised at Kenny getting back to new York for it is pretty easy to get back to the East.
Wouldn’t hardly be able to pick that Peacock out for I see thousands of sailors here every day.
I guess Dilly would be pretty excited about working for me Mrs Booty teacher this year.
I guess maybe for me Mrs Booty would get plenty of talking. You sure are getting to be a terror out driving at nights that way.
Well ma guess I had better close now a write Beryle a few lines.
Love
Howard
