Dear Ma,
Just finished writing to Beryle and thought I had better write you a few lines. Don’t know too much to write about for I didn’t get any letters from you again today. Did get two from Beryle and one from Ernest.
Beryle said that there was a wreck there in Benton about the same place when Speed and Timmie got killed. She said she heard they were going to take one of the kids leg off. I know all the kids that were in it.
I am pretty tired tonight for we had to work pretty hard today. Just depends on what a person has to cook. Ernest said that Bob Ballard had been wounded in action. That is Sara Pippen nephew. Sure is a lot of fellows getting wounded from home. Ernest figures that he will stay where he is for the duration, some fellows are pretty lucky at staying in the states, but I believe I would just as soon be here.
But you can’t guess the new game I learned to play last night. The high society game called bridge. It isn’t very hard to play. Made a grand slam and that is something that don’t happen in bridge to often. I will teach you how to play when I come home.
Well ma guess I had better close for now and get ready for bed for four o’clock comes pretty early.
