Dear Ma,
Went down to see Francis this morning an we planned on going to town but we were both so tired we layed around all day. One thing we always have a good visit when we get together.
Got two letters today. One from you and one from Leonard Bennett. Jenny said that he is at pack to heads. Sure would like to see that.
I really expected Kenny to get home when he got back to the States, but was kind of surprised at him getting sent to the west coast. More than likely he will not be here. Sure hope I get to see him if he does.
Florence is wrong when she says that Wendell is on a destroyer. Joe is on a transport. I didn’t have his address but Francis did.
I haven’t seen very many pretty girls here yet even though there are a lot here from the States.
I don’t think there is any kind of meat we haven’t had to eat! Have a lot of mutton and veal. Have quite a bit of cheese too and plenty of butter. I made some milk out of powdered milk this morning. All you have to do is mix it with water an stir it up. Have fish every Friday an it is real good too. Have pancakes, eggs and some kind of meat every morning for breakfast.
The only big shots I have saw so far is some officers. As a matter of fact a person sees more of them than anything else.
Be sure and send me Gene Lutes address for I would like to write to him.
Sure is nice that it didn’t get cold after all the rain you had. Maybe you will have some good weather now. Well ma this is about all I know now so will close for tonight.
Love
Howard
